ABOUT MARK BITTONI
Mark Bittoni is an architect, educator, and community advocate dedicated to shaping thoughtful, meaningful spaces. Born in Columbus, Ohio, he discovered his passion for architecture at The Ohio State University’s Knowlton School of Architecture, where he graduated in 1998. He was then awarded the UCLA Presidential Fellowship, where he earned the prestigious AIA Scholastic Award, completing his Master of Architecture at UCLA.
Mark began his career at the internationally recognized firm Moore Ruble Yudell, contributing as a project designer on a diverse range of building types and scales. In 2005, he founded Bittoni Architects, a practice that has since grown from a local design studio to a thriving firm with a portfolio that spans multifamily housing, commercial and workplace environments, retail spaces, and private residences. The practice has taken him to dynamic and diverse contexts, from the urban density of Taipei to the historic fabric of Charleston, SC, where each project embraces the unique challenges and opportunities of its surroundings. His work is rooted in the belief that architecture has the power to enrich lives and strengthen communities.
Beyond practice, Mark is deeply committed to the architectural community and education. He was a lecturer at the University of Southern California and has been a guest critic at The Ohio State University, Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI), engaging in conversations that push the industry forward.
Mark is also passionate about giving back—whether through mentoring young architects, supporting local initiatives, or advocating for thoughtful urban development. He believes that great design is not just about buildings but about fostering a sense of place and community.
